Yesterday Abby and I spent the day in NYC with some cool fashion students. While we were there, we shopped for fabric... helping students pick fabric for their mini collections.... Lunch at my fav... Ben's Deli on 38th.. and, while we were walking down Broadway, I spotted these really cool mannequins dressed up and painted in all sorts of outrageous colors! They were very cool. Turns out they were part of the "Sidewalk Catwalk". 32 designers like Michael Kors and Donna Karan were given fiberglass mannequins with instructions to "fashion" them up as they saw fit! One designer, Parbal, Gurung created a tribute to Alexander McQueen.
Here's Abby next to the mannequin designed by Rachel Roy... completely with a studded bustier and snakeskin boots!
Then, it was off to FIT to see Eco-Fashion: Going Green... It was fantastic! If you're going to be in NYC, it's definitely worth checking out. (You have until Nov 13th!). ...Now, it's back to work in the studio!
